Florida inmate escapes during work detail

LUTZ, Fla. (AP) — Authorities are searching for a prisoner who escaped during a work detail in southwest Florida.

Pasco Sheriff’s deputies say 27-year-old Jason Adams walked away while going to the bathroom in the woods Monday.

Adams is wearing a blue prison uniform with white stripes. He was part of a Sumter County work camp.

According to the Department of Corrections website, Adams was sentenced to several years in prison last fall for burglary and grand theft charges.
