Chelsea Handler called on Democratic billionaires Thursday to “illustrate” better alternatives for the $30 million that could be spent to fund President Trump’s military parade in Washington.
“Democratic billionaires- we need you to illustrate what this 30 million dollar military parade would be better spent on. That, and the fact that the person who requested it dodged the draft however many times because of “bone spurs.” Is that a hair-related malady? Fuck,” Handler tweeted.

White House budget director Mick Mulvaney estimated in February that Trump’s military parade could cost between $10 million and $30 million.
That same month, a spokesman for the Pentagon told the New Yorker that Trump’s request for military personnel to participate in the parade had been met by thousands of “deferments,” citing an outbreak of bone spurs. “In the history of the U.S. military, we have never experienced a bone-spur epidemic of this magnitude,” a Pentagon spokesman said hours after Trump requested their presence at the parade. “Regrettably, however, we have no choice but to issue thousands of deferments.”
Trump’s fifth draft deferment during the Vietnam War was for heel spurs.
House Democrats last month also moved to thwart the parade when they introduced the “PARADE” Act — otherwise known as the Preventing the Allocation of Resources for Absurd Defense Expenditures bill — which aims to keep taxpayers from funding the parade.
But, the parade is expected to take go on as planned on Veterans Day in November, according to a Pentagon memo revealed last week.
