Rep. Steny Hoyer, who is the Democratic counterpart to Majority Whip Steve Scalise, informed a reporter he would be wearing a “Team Scalise” shirt at the Congressional Baseball Game on Thursday.
“Whip Steny Hoyer, Scalise’s Democratic counterpart, said he’ll be wearing a ‘Team Scalise’ shirt at the game. Got it from Scalise’s staff,” CNN reporter Ashley Killough tweeted on Wednesday evening.
Hoyer also released a statement after Scalise, a congressional staffer and Capitol Police officers were injured at shooting that took place at the GOP baseball practice in Virginia.
“My prayers today are with my friend Whip Steve Scalise and with all those who were injured in the shooting this morning,” Hoyer said in a statement Wednesday. “Including the U.S. Capitol Police officers, who courageously responded and saved lives.
