Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Sunday it would be difficult for him to turn down the vice presidential slot if Donald Trump tapped him to be his running mate.
“If he can convince Callista and me that it’s doable and serious and we would contribute, I think we would be very hard pressed not to say yes,” Gingrich told Fox News.
Gingrich warned that he while he wouldn’t give an “automatic yes,” he would certainly “sit down and talk about” running on the bottom of the GOP ticket.
“It’s certainly a great challenge, but … I have a pretty interesting, exciting life,” he said, adding that he and his wife are “pretty busy, but we could be lured into a new path.”
Gingrich endorsed Trump’s presidential bid last week after months of defending the billionaire against mounting criticism from members of his own party.
