Passengers who partied maskless on plane now stuck in Mexico after airline refuses to fly them home

A rowdy group of passengers is stuck in Mexico after the airline refused to bring them home.

The group of passengers flew on a Sunwing Airlines charter flight to Cancun from Montreal on Dec. 30, according to a CNN report. Video footage of the group partying onboard the flight prompted an investigation by Transport Canada.

Sunwing canceled the group’s returning flight, citing safety concerns to other passengers. The group reportedly refused to agree to terms given by the airline.

“Unfortunately, the group did not accept all of the terms. As a result of our ongoing investigation and the group’s refusal to accept all terms of carriage, we have made the decision to cancel the return flight,” Sunwing Airlines said in a statement.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in a statement on Wednesday he was “extremely frustrated” by the incident, calling it a “slap in the face to see people putting themselves, putting their fellow citizens, putting airline workers at risk by being completely irresponsible.”

Transport Canada said the group could face individual fines of $5,000 Canadian dollars ($3,900 USD) for each offense.
