JURY TO START DELIBERATING LOUD MUSIC KILLING CASE

A jury in Jacksonville will being deciding the fate of a white man who fatally shot a black teenager after an argument over loud music outside a convenience store. The 47-year-old Michael Dunn testified that he thought his life was in danger when he fired the shots that killed 17-year-old Jordan Davis of Marietta, Georgia. Prosecutors say Dunn shot with intent to kill when he fired 10 times into an SUV carrying Davis and three of his friends in November 2012.

SOUTH FLORIDA LEADERS DISCUSS CLIMATE CHANGE PLANS

South Florida community leaders are meeting in Miami Beach to discuss regional plans for adapting to climate change. Federal climate policy initiatives will be discussed Wednesday at the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Leadership Summit. On Thursday, officials will discuss investment risks and business strategies for adapting to climate change.

FLOOD WARNING ISSUED IN CENTRAL FLORIDA

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for sections along the St. Johns River in central Florida. The weather service issued the warning this week after days of heavy rainfall in central and northeast Florida. The Property Appraiser’s Office says flooding in Volusia County last week caused $3.6 million in damage to 126 properties. In Flagler County, flooding has damaged more than 50 homes.

AMAZON’S SECOND FLORIDA FULFILLMENT CENTER OPENS

Amazon’s second regional fulfillment center in Florida is up and running. The Internet retailer says that the new Ruskin center shipped its first item, a Disney Frozen doll, on Sept. 24 to a customer in New York. Employees at the 1-million-square-foot, Hillsborough County warehouse will pick, pack and ship small items, such as books, DVDs and other consumer goods. Florida’s first fulfillment center opened in August in Polk County. The Lakeland facility handles large items.

NAKED WOMAN RIDING IN TRUCK THAT STRUCK SCHOOL BUS

Authorities say a naked woman was riding in the semi-truck that struck a school bus in north Florida, injuring 10 people. Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Dylan Bryan says it is unclear why the woman was unclothed when the truck hit the bus Monday carrying elementary students on their way home. Authorities say none of the students received life-threatening injuries in the crash, but that the driver of the truck and the woman were in critical condition.
