In case there’s anyone left on Earth who didn’t get the memo, Nicole Kidman would like us all to know that she was sad when Tom Cruise divorced her and is now happy to be married to Keith Urban. In other breaking news: She’s pale and skinny.
During the 10 years she was wed to the “Mission: Impossible” megastar, Nic confesses to Glamour, she “felt I became a star only by association. I didn’t think [the early movies] were very good, which is why I would always cower in the background. I thought, ‘I don’t deserve to be here.’ We would go to the Oscars and I would think, ‘I’m here to support him.’ I felt it was my job to put on a beautiful dress and be seen and not heard.”
(That wouldn’t be a backhanded way of pointing out that she has now won an Oscar and Tom hasn’t, would it? Nah.)
After their divorce, the Aussie beauty recalls, “I went six years alone. I’m not saying it’s for everyone, but it’s better to be alone than in a lousy relationship.” (OK, that one we’re pretty sure was a backhanded dig.)
And now that she’s Mrs. Keith Urban, Nicole gushes, “‘Happy’ isn’t an all-encompassing-enough word. … The journey of life, we all go through it: You have love, you lose love, you find new love. To have love again is a beautiful thing.”
OK, we get it. But from now on, please save it for your therapist.
Hef: Maintenance Man
She was the most doting and devoted of Hugh Hefner’s girlfriends on “Girls Next Door.” But no sooner did the gates of the Playboy Mansion slam behind her than Holly Madison started to dish about her elderly ex.
“It might be refreshing to date someone who is not high maintenance,” the Playboy mogul’s former alpha girlfriend snarks to “Extra,” adding, “Sorry, Hef … I love you, but you know you’re high maintenance.”
And in an even bigger dis to the legendary Lothario, Holly insinuated that, despite all the Bunnies at the Playboy Mansion, there wasn’t much hopping in the bedroom. She insists to In Touch that she hasn’t been intimate with anyone “in a really long time. And that’s the honest truth.”
Interesting. Wonder what new beau Criss Angel (who hardly looks like a low-maintenance guy, BTW) has to say about that?
Hudsons at Peace
Monday was a somber day for Jennifer Hudson and her family. The “Dreamgirls” star was on hand as her mother, brother and nephew were laid to rest in a Chicago cemetery.
At the private memorial service, which followed a public service Sunday, the singer-actress was seen leaning toward her mother’s casket and giving her a poignant kiss.
Attendees reportedly included the Rev. Jesse Jackson, Oprah Winfrey and Queen Latifah, Jennifer’s co-star in “The Secret Life of Bees.” Fellow “American Idol” alum Fantasia Barrino sang the gospel song “Your Grace and Mercy” at the service, walking down the aisle to take Jennifer’s hand as she did.
“I think it healed Jennifer’s soul just then,” a family member tells TMZ.
We hope so. Our prayers are with Jennifer, the Hudsons and their loved ones as they continue their journey of healing.
