Updated: PG cops digging up body buried in well

Update: 4:50 p.m.:

Prince George’s County authorities dug up a body buried in a Fort Washington well on Saturday and expect to positively identify the person after an autopsy.

The police department began the excavation of the well located near a home in the 11900 block of Old Fort Road on Saturday morning, after receiving a call saying there might be a body inside. A camera was lowered into the well to confirm the tip.

Homicide investigators initially expected to have the body exhumed by Sunday evening, but police spokeswoman Julie Parker has said the digging went more quickly than expected.

They removed the body about 4 p.m. Saturday, according to Parker, and planned to conduct the autopsy on Sunday.
