Poll: Clinton up by 3 percent, double digit third-party support

Hillary Clinton is ahead by 3 percent, according to the latest results of a Politico/Morning Consult poll released Sunday.

Unchanged from last week’s survey, the former secretary of state leads GOP rival Donald Trump 45 percent to 43 percent. But there may be a significant pool of voters unsatisfied with the two leading candidates that may yet be swayed in a four-person race.

Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson and the Green Party’s Jill Stein earned 8 percent and 4 percent respectively.

However, both Clinton and Trump still suffer from unfavorability ratings that top 50 percent.

Trump enjoys a 10-point lead among white voters, while Clinton boasts a strong advantage among minority groups, though her 69-point lead among African-Americans and 34-point lead among Hispanics is a far cry from President Obama’s strong showing in 2012.

Also of note: One-third of independent voters said they were less likely to vote for Clinton because of the FBI’s renewed investigation into her emails.

The national poll of 1,482 likely voters was conducted via landline and cellphone between Nov. 4 and Nov. 5 in English and Spanish. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points and partisan divisions of 39 percent Democrat, 33 percent Republican and 28 percent independent.
