Elaine Chao: Trump’s $1 trillion infrastructure plan coming this year

President Trump’s infrastructure plan will be released in 2017, but it’s not clear how it will be paid for or exactly when it will come.

Reuters reported Wednesday Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao said Trump’s $1 trillion infrastructure plan is still being developed. Chao said the proposal will cover “a strategic, targeted program of investment valued at $1 trillion over 10 years. The proposal will cover more than transportation infrastructure, it will include energy, water and potentially broadband and veterans hospitals as well.”

The report said Chao didn’t give any specifics about how the $1 trillion proposal will be paid for, but did say the administration would offer incentives for public-private partnerships to be a major part of the funding mechanism.

Regulatory reform is expected to be included in the plan as well. Chao said Trump wants to speed up the approval process for projects under government consideration.
