Theresa May spokeswoman denies Trump visit has been changed

President Trump’s state visit to Britain has not been postponed, a spokeswoman for Prime Minister Theresa May said Sunday.

“The Queen extended an invitation to President Trump to visit the U.K. and there is no change to those plans,” May’s spokeswoman told Reuters.

The Guardian reported Sunday that Trump had postponed his visit to Britain over a lack of public support.

He reportedly told May in a recent phone call that he does not want to come to the United Kingdom if there would be massive protests.

The White House told the Washington Post the Guardian’s report was untrue, saying the trip never “came up in the call.”

Trump’s state visit was originally scheduled for July, the New York Times reported. It was then tentatively scheduled for the Fall.

The Labour Party’s Jeremy Corbyn welcomed news of the cancellation.
