Police cadet suspended during robbery probe

A Baltimore City police cadet has been suspended while detectives investigate whether he was involved in the armed robbery of a McDonald?s in Parkville.

At 6:28 a.m. Sunday, a man robbed the McDonald?s on the 2100 block of East Joppa Road.

He entered the restaurant, placed an order, then pulled out a handgun, ordering the clerk to turn over an undisclosed amount of money, said Cpl. Mike Hill, a Baltimore County police spokesman.

During the course of their investigation, Baltimore County police learned that a city police cadet might have been involved with the robbery.

That cadet, who has not passed his academy classes, is suspended pending the county?s investigation, said Sterling Clifford, the city police spokesman.

Clifford would not disclose the cadet?s name or age.

“A police trainee has been suspended ? that?s all I can say,” Clifford said.

“He is part of the investigation,” Hill said of the cadet. “No charges have been filed. Right now, we are trying to see if we can eliminate him as a suspect.”
