D.C. commission to question Pepco on outages

The D.C. Public Service Commission has ordered Pepco officials to appear at a hearing where they’ll be questioned about power outages following a late January snowstorm.

The commission’s issuing the order late Wednesday follows a request for an investigation into the public utility by at-large Councilman Sekou Biddle.

“During the hearing, the Commission will question senior Pepco officials regarding the company’s provision of safe and reliable service, and whether power outage restoration efforts have been sufficient, in light of service disruptions that District customers have experienced in the wake of last week’s snowstorm,” a commission press release says.

They’ll also ask about Pepco’s tree-trimming practices.

The hearing is scheduled for Feb. 10.
