Philadelphia has seen a recent spike in carjackings, among other violent crimes.
“One of the more disturbing trends that we have seen in Philadelphia is the startling increase in the number of carjackings — the taking of a vehicle by force or fear — that have been experienced over the past two years,” Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said.
Outlaw revealed that there were a reported 757 carjackings in the city in 2021, representing a 34% increase from the previous year.
