Hillary: Against ‘Bad Things’

Friday night at a New Hampshire Democratic fundraiser, both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders went onstage to make their respective cases to Granite State Democratic influencers.

Sanders gave a rousing speech to a half-filled house that drew much applause. (Attendees, oddly, were given “thundersticks” and glow necklaces.) Clinton’s speech was less well recieved, which is understandable given the considerable lead Sanders has in his political backyard.

Perhaps the most bizarre line Clinton uttered at the debate was this one:

Senator Sanders and I agree. We’ve got to stop bad things from happening. But I believe we’ve got to start good things happening again in America.

Vague? Sure. Compelling? No. A mistake? Certainly not.

Here’s Hillary at Thursday night’s MSNBC debate:

I’m for a lot of things. I don’t want to just stop bad things from happening, I want to start good things from happening.

Clinton’s campaign has obviously chosen this as stump speech applause line, and as evidenced by Clinton’s stumble Thursday, not only is it vague, it confuses even her.
