An Amazon delivery driver is being hailed as a hero after aiding in the rescue of three dogs from a house fire.
The driver, Angelina Starkey, called the fire department when she noticed the blaze, resulting in a rapid response that saved the three dogs inside, along with the house, according to Columbia County Fire Rescue. Due to her swift response, the fire was contained to just a single room. The dogs suffered minor smoke inhalation, but they are expected to make a quick recovery.
“During a structure fire yesterday, 3 puppies were saved and revived from smoke inhalation. Thank you to the Amazon driver who noticed the smoke and called 911. Since the homeowner was not at home at the time, she saved the home and the puppies lives!” the fire department said in a Facebook post.

“I am eternally grateful and will never be able to thank Angelina (the Amazon driver), the firefighters, and the sheriffs deputies enough for saving my dogs’ lives,” Lauren Sutton, 31, who lives at the house with her 7-month-old daughter, told USA Today.
Other family members took to social media to offer their thanks to Angelina as well.
“Many thanks and appreciation!!! Those are my daughter’s dogs that we love very much. They are doing well this morning but still in the hospital. Thank you will never be enough!” Lisa Ann Dunn commented on the fire department’s Facebook post, along with a heart emoji.
Though the Amazon driver’s quick thinking saved much of the house, fire damage still destroyed many of the family’s belongings. A GoFundMe organized by Dunn said assistance is also needed to cover the dogs’ medical bills, as they are still in a veterinary hospital.
