Former Wizard Jamison’s Bethesda home finds buyer

When the Wizards’ Antawn Jamison was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers last season, it may have been a better move for him on the court — but off the court it put him on the hook to sell a $4.15 million home during the bottom of one of the worst real estate markets this country has seen in decades.

So what happened? The Cavs made the playoffs and Jamison’s home in Bethesda sat. And sat, and sat. Until now.

According to Urban Turf, Jamison’s home is under contract for just under $4 million.

So the big (no pun intended) question is who the heck is buying a 14,000-square-foot pad with oversized rooms and pimped out with all the usual trappings you’d expect from someone who had a $12 million annual salary. We’re talking movie theater, four-car garage, wine cellar and — of course — an elevator.

But the most unusual thing about the house, Urban Turf notes, is the over-sized nature of the rooms. For example, “the kitchen has enough room for a living room-like seating area” and the master suite is the size of most downtown D.C. one-bedroom apartments.

It’s a house built to spec for a basketball player, which makes it a tough sell in a down market … and makes this mystery buyer (another Wizard?) more intriguing.
