Secretary of State John Kerry believes that,
As Matthew Lee of the AP reports Mr. Kerry made these remarks “a day after Russia sharply hiked the price for natural gas to Ukraine.”
One wonders what Mr. Kerry believes is the point of sanctions if not to inflict economic pain (inevitably on the most defenseless elements of the targeted nation’s population) and, also, just what a nation may permissibly embargo here in the enlightened 21st century.
Video games? Blue jeans?
And, by the way, haven’t we been using energy as a weapon against Iran? Just asking.
Mr. Kerry also believes, as Sangwon Yoon and Terry Atlas of Bloomberg report, that if the Palestinians and the Israelis are to salvage the talks he is so deeply invested in, they must, “put aside their rancor and work out a peace agreement.”
Never thought of it quite that way.
