Lewandowski says NY Times broke the law by publishing Trump’s tax returns

Donald Trump’s former campaign manager said he thinks the reporters who revealed Trump’s tax returns have committed a crime.

Corey Lewandowski told CNN on Monday, “it’s a crime” that the New York Times released and published someone’s tax returns without permission.

“There is no national security interest to Donald Trump’s tax returns, that’s a fact,” Lewandowski said. “And the New York Times should be held accountable. I hope [Trump] sues them into oblivion for doing this.”

The Times published three pages Trump’s personal tax records from 1995 and argued that the GOP nominee “could have avoided taxes for nearly two decades.” Dean Baquet, executive editor at the Times, previously expressed a willingness to risk jail time to publish Trump’s tax returns.
