A Baltimore County woman in the midst of a custody dispute with her boyfriend stabbed the man to death after a fight over disciplining their children, authorities said.
Police arrested Ida Robinson, 33, at her home in the unit block of Wickman Court Monday evening after discovering her boyfriend dead inside, Cpl. Michael Hill said. She was charged with first-degree murder.
Police were alerted to the incident at about 5:30 p.m. when Robinson “called 911 to say she had stabbed her boyfriend,” 36-year-old Scottie Lee Thorne, Hill said. Their 1-year-old son and Thorne?s 8-year-old son from a previous relationship were both at home during the attack, police said, but they were unharmed.
The children are now staying with other relatives, Hill said.
Court records show that Robinson filed a complaint for custody against Thorne in March in Baltimore County Circuit Court. The case remains open after the most recent scheduled court hearing, on June 9, was canceled, possibly signaling that an agreement was reached in the case.
Hill said Thorne and Robinson apparently had an argument over the children Monday evening before she grabbed a knife and stabbed him once in the chest. Paramedics tried unsuccessfully to revive Thorne, who was attacked near the kitchen area of their home, he said.
Robinson was arrested after telling police she was Thorne?s assailant, police said. She was held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
