Schumer: Ousted Secret Service chief ‘must’ testify about Mar-a-Lago security breach

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said the outgoing Secret Service director “must testify before Congress as soon as possible” about the arrest of a Chinese national at President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort.

Secret Service Director Randolph “Tex” Alles was ousted from the job on Monday after the major breach.

Schumer, D-N.Y., said Alles must testify “about the potential security vulnerabilities,” at the Palm Beach, Fla., resort owned and frequented by Trump.

“The public and Congress need to know the extent to which adversarial governments — like China — and their agents are attempting to gain access to, or conduct electronic surveillance on, conversations or other information regarding national security at President Trump’s properties,” Schumer said.

Yujing Zhang was arrested March 30 trying to gain entry to the resort. At the time of her arrest she was carrying two Chinese passports, four cellphones, a laptop, and a device containing malware. In her hotel room, Zhang had multiple electronic devices, including one that detected hidden cameras, and more than $7,500 in cash, according to prosecutors.
