Denver police arrest three teenagers in connection to Friday school shooting

Denver police arrested three teenagers in connection to a shooting at an Aurora, Colorado, high school parking lot on Nov. 19.

Police said on Sunday they had arrested one 16-year-old suspect on Friday evening, with two more suspects of the same age arrested on Sunday. The unidentified suspects were believed to be connected to a shooting at Hinkley High School. All three suspects face charges of first-degree attempted murder, according to Sentinel Colorado.

“I need the parents to get involved,” Aurora Police Chief Vanessa Wilson told parents. “I need you checking phones, I need you checking rooms, I need you checking cars, and make sure that they’re taking these guns away from these kids.”

Police reported that three teenagers, two boys ages 16 and 17 and a 17-year-old girl, were injured from the parking lot shooting. The unidentified students are expected to recover from their injuries, the outlet reported.

The shooting outside Hinkley High School comes four days after another shooting at Aurora Central High School, a school in the same Denver suburb and 3 miles away from Hinkley. Six students were wounded by bullets fired from at least one car driving by a park near the school. Police have not arrested anyone yet in the Aurora Central shootings, according to the outlet.

Wilson said it’s currently unclear if the two shootings are connected but did say “it’s a possibility,” the outlet reported.
