Chris Wallace: Left wing of Democratic Party has ‘Fox derangement syndrome’

Fox News anchor Chris Wallace hit back after the Democratic National Committee decided it would not allow the network to host a 2020 primary debate.

On a Fox radio show Thursday, Wallace claimed that “the left wing” of the Democratic Party has “Fox derangement syndrome.”

“I think that the left wing of the party — you know how we talk about Trump derangement syndrome or Obama? I think that the left wing of the Democratic Party there is Fox derangement syndrome,” he said.

“And even though they know that, Martha MacCallum and Bret Baier and I would give a fair debate, the idea of anything with ‘Fox News presents the Democratic debate’ and they were just looking for an excuse and The New Yorker article gave it to them,” Wallace said, referring to fellow Fox News anchors.

The DNC announced its decision Wednesday, citing a recent New Yorker piece that alleged Fox News has crossed into the realm of propaganda in its coverage of President Trump. Following the announcement, Trump seemed to threaten to boycott the general election debates in a Wednesday tweet.

Wallace received wide praise for how he moderated a general election debate during the 2016 presidential election. Fox News has not hosted a Democratic primary debate since 2004.
