President-elect Trump has reportedly selected Goldman Sachs President Gary Cohn as a top economic adviser, adding one more official from the prominent Wall Street bank to his incoming staff.
Cohn, currently the president and chief operating officer for the bank, is Trump’s choice to direct the National Economic Council, according to multiple reports, a role that involves coordinating economic policy and advising the president. He would be the third former Goldman Sachs employee among Trump’s closest advisers, joining Treasury Secretary pick Steven Mnuchin and top strategist Steve Bannon.
Trump was reported to be interested in adding Cohn to his team this late fall at the same time it was reported Cohn was looking at options outside of Goldman Sachs after a 25-year career with the firm.
