Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned the world Russia could be preparing to use nuclear weapons in an escalation of its war with Ukraine.
He was asked during a CNN interview if he is worried after CIA Director William Burns expressed concern about Russian President Vladimir Putin resorting to tactical nuclear weapons as Russian forces continue to suffer setbacks.

“Not only me, I think, but all of the world, all of the countries have to be worried because you know that it can be not real information, but it can be truth,” he told CNN’s Jake Tapper in a snippet of an interview that aired Friday.
During an event on Thursday, Burns said the United States has not seen “a lot of practical evidence” that Russia is going to use any kind of nuclear weapon but that leaders are still “concerned” about nuclear escalation.
Zelensky also said Russia could turn to chemical weapons due to the view that Ukrainian lives mean “nothing” and noted that it poses a broader threat to the rest of the world.

“We should, I think, not be afraid, not be afraid but be ready,” Zelensky said. “But that is not a question for Ukraine, not only for Ukraine but for all the world, I think so.”
