WHO: The National Science Foundation
WHAT: The NSF gave a $95,000 stimulus grant to the University of Massachusetts at Boston to “count pollen grains collected from farms in Iceland” allowing the study of “the role the arctic environment played in the evolution of civic life during the Viking age.”
WHY IT’S AN OUTRAGE: The stimulus’ explicit purpose is creating jobs and economic growth, while this is just sacking and looting the treasury. In that respect, the Vikings would approve.
WHERE TO VENT: The National Science Foundation at 703-292-5111.
