Sen. Joe Manchin, a Democrat, will introduce President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to head the Energy Department at Thursday’s confirmation hearing.
Manchin, of West Virginia, announced he will introduce former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, a Republican, who will appear before the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources.
Manchin was once on Trump’s short list to head the department. He was often at odds with the Obama administration’s environmental policies and regulations, particularly those that hurt the coal industry.
