Wizards-Mavs pregame

There’s little to report that we didn’t already know ahead of the Wizards’ second preseason game: DeShawn Stevenson is starting at shooting guard, meaning Nick Young will come off the bench.

(In my first-ever visit to the Wizards locker room, by the way,) I asked Young what his role would be: “To feed the post,” answered Brendan Haywood from across the locker room. “To feed the post,” said Young.

Coach Flip Saunders said Gilbert Arenas is likely to get 10 minutes, and then they’ll play it by ear. Somehow, it seems like Arenas is due to attack the rim and find his shot rather than opening with 7 assists. I wonder, also, if he’ll bust out the surgical glove and work on his knee again once he sits. The rigors of Tim Grover’s regimen, eh?

There is good representation from out-of-town and national media tonight, just another sign of the buzz surrounding this team. This is the only preseason home game, so expect a show. The team departs tomorrow, and will play next at Toronto on Sunday…
