Major road work on I-66 starting April 4

The Virginia Department of Transportation will begin a $48 million repair and resurfacing project along a 6.5-mile stretch of Interstate 66 in Fairfax County on April 4.

VDOT will begin closing lanes weeknights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. About two miles of lanes will be closed at a time. The project will require crews to remove and patch large sections of the road between the Capital Beltway and Route 50, and then repave the entire stretch of highway.

Weather permitting, the project could be complete by November 2012.
