Senior National Security Council director for intelligence to leave White House: Report

Michael Barry, the senior National Security Council director for intelligence programs, is departing his position at the White House, according to two government officials.

Barry is departing on “very good terms,” one of the officials told the Daily Beast, but added that it would be a “tough loss for the NSC.”

Barry will allegedly be returning to the CIA, where he served before joining the NSC.

Since national security adviser John Bolton was appointed to his position earlier this year, there has been a growing list of empty senior NSC positions.

Former national security adviser H.R. McMaster brought in Barry shortly after firing Ezra Cohen-Watnick in August 2017.

In the last few weeks, several NSC employees have left their positions in the administration.

Senior director for Russia Richard Hooker, senior director for international organizations Jennifer Arangio, top Middle East adviser Michael Bell, and Joel Rayburn, the senior director for Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon, are just some of the individuals who departed NSC recently.
