Press Release: New Hires at Washington Examiner

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Washington Examiner Editorial Director Hugo Gurdon is pleased to announce that seven new writers will be joining the news room in coming weeks.

Starting on Tuesday, February 19th

  • Cassidy Morrison, formerly of V Magazine, will be a reporter on the healthcare policy team.
  • Reporter Jerry Dunleavy, formerly of Judicial Watch, will cover the Justice Dept. and investigations
  • Reporter Danny Jativa, formerly of Fox News, will become part of the breaking news team.

Starting on Monday, February 25th

  • Reporter Joe Simonson, formerly of Heat Street and the New York Post, who will cover the Democrats.
  • Emily Ward, formerly of Conservative News Service, will join the White House reporting team.
  • Reporter Zachary Halaschak, who was previously at the Ketchikan Daily News, be joining the breaking news team.

Starting at the beginning of March

  • · Larry O’Connor, WMAL / KABC talk show host & former columnist for the Washington Times, will write a weekly column and host a new Washington Examiner podcast.

The seven new hires come on the heels of other recent hires, of David Mark, formerly of Politico and CNN, to be Deputy News Editor, and Kelly Jane Torrance, formerly of the Weekly Standard, to be Senior Editor.
