Southwest pilot says anti-Biden joke over intercom: ‘Welcome home and let’s go Brandon’

A Southwest pilot slipped the now-infamous “Let’s go Brandon” catchphrase over the intercom during a Friday flight, according to a report.

The pilot, who has not yet been identified, signed off with the phrase on a flight from Houston to Albuquerque, the Associated Press reports.

“We’re heading east at about 107 or 108 mph,” the pilot reportedly said. “Clear visibility, mostly clear skies, about 77 degrees. Thanks for coming out, flying Southwest Airlines, welcome home and let’s go Brandon.”

SOUTHWEST AIRLINES INSTITUTES VACCINE MANDATE TO COMPLY WITH BIDEN ADMINISTRATION

Southwest responded to the incident in a statement saying that the airline “takes pride in providing a welcoming, comfortable, and respectful environment” and that “behavior from any individual that is divisive or offensive is not condoned.”

The “Let’s go Brandon” slogan, which is used as a euphemism for “f**k Joe Biden,” started after a reporter mistook inflammatory chants about the president from a crowd of NASCAR fans as cheers for racer Brandon Brown.

Several rap songs named after the viral phrase have topped Apple Music charts. Bryson Gray’s rap “Let’s Go Brandon” is currently No. 1 on the platform. Two other “Let’s go Brandon” songs by Loza Alexander are within the top 10.

Southwest Airlines was forced to cancel thousands of flights earlier this month. The airline blamed the weather for the cancellations, but many speculated they were actually due to pilot strikes over the company’s vaccine mandate.

“Southwest does not condone Employees sharing their personal political opinions while on the job serving our Customers, and one Employee’s individual perspective should not be interpreted as the viewpoint of Southwest and its collective 54,000 Employees,” the airline said in a statement Sunday. “Southwest is conducting an internal investigation into the recently reported event and will address the situation directly with any Employee involved while continuing to remind all Employees that public expression of personal opinions while on duty is unacceptable.”
