“Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough said President Trump’s speech in the Rose Garden on Thursday proved that Steve Bannon, the White House chief strategist, is “now president of the United States.”
“What we saw yesterday is Time Magazine was right,” Scarborough said on MSNBC. “Steve Bannon is president of the United States. He has gone in. Donald Trump doesn’t know anything about policy. Donald Trump doesn’t know anything about policy. Donald Trump doesn’t know anything about anything. He can get up and give a good speech.
“You listen to him talk about any topic, and he wanders from sentence to sentence to sentence,” Scarborough continued. “So Steve Bannon is now president of the United States, and that was more clear yesterday than ever before.”
Scarborough drew comparisons between the president’s inaugural address and his speech in the Rose Garden announcing his decision to withdraw the U.S. from the Paris climate agreement.
Though Bannon was reportedly on the outs with the president at one point, Scarborough said Trump’s speech proved Bannon is in charge.
