Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg said her message to President Trump would be to believe the climate is in danger because of human activities.
Thunberg, 16, stated her message to Trump when she landed in New York City this week after crossing the Atlantic Ocean in a solar powered boat, instead of flying, to cut down on emissions. She is in the United States to attend a climate conference and to take part in protests.
“It’s strange, everyone always asks me about Donald Trump,” Thunberg said. “But, I mean, my message for him is just ‘listen to the science,’ and he obviously doesn’t do that.”
“So, I mean, I, as I always say to this question, if any — if no one has been able to convince him about the climate crisis, the urgency, then why should I be able to do that?” she added.
Thunberg said she will instead be focusing on spreading awareness about the climate to other people.
“The climate and ecological crisis is a global crisis and the biggest crisis humanity has ever face and if we don’t manage to work together, to cooperate and to work together despite our differences, then we will fail.”

Finally here. Thank you everyone who came to see me off in Plymouth, and everyone who welcomed me in New York! Now I’m going to rest for a few days, and on Friday I’m going to participate in the strike outside the UN. pic.twitter.com/yZ9yJHh1lZ

With Thunberg in the U.S., the sailing team, whose boat she used, will be flying two crew members to America in order to sail the boat back. They said the “an imperfect solution” was the result of Thunberg’s last minute planned trip.
