Bern notice: Sanders to deliver speech about campaign’s future

Socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders will deliver an address about the future of his presidential campaign on Thursday as his presidential bid clings to life ahead of the Democratic convention.

Sanders issued a statement on Tuesday that appeared sentimental about the campaign he has run.

“When we started this campaign, I told you that I run not to oppose any man or woman, but to propose new and far-reaching policies to deal with the crises of our time. And for the past 14 months, through the entire primary process, we’ve sent the establishment a message they can’t ignore: We won’t settle for the status quo,” Sanders wrote. “This campaign is about more than Bernie Sanders. It is about all of us together.”

Upon winning the Washington, D.C., primary on Tuesday, Hillary Clinton met with Sanders for two hours in a downtown hotel in the nation’s capital. After the meeting, the Sanders campaign said the senator congratulated Clinton and agreed to work for a progressive agenda.

Sanders will deliver the Thursday address from his hometown of Burlington, Vt., and has reportedly given no travel advisories after the Green Mountain State for reporters. He has long insisted he would fight on until the Democratic convention next month, but the Vermont stage provides an opportunity for him to exit the race on his own terms should he choose to do so.
