Donald Trump’s campaign team was quick to criticize Hillary Clinton’s pick of Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine as a running mate.
“It’s only fitting that Hillary Clinton would select an ethically challenged insider like Tim Kaine who’s personally benefited from the rigged system,” Jason Miller, Trump’s senior communications adviser, said in a statement.
The campaign listed $160,000 worth of gifts Kaine received from 2001 to 2009. The list included clothes, vacations and tickets to various events.
Trump took to Twitter shortly after to call out Kaine for his actions.
“Is it the same Kaine that took hundreds of thousands of dollars in gifts while Governor of Virginia and didn’t get indicted while Bob M did?” Trump wrote, referring to former Republican Va. Gov. Bob McDonnell, whose corruption conviction was recently overturned by the Supreme Court.
