Despite rumors, Elton John will not perform at Trump’s inauguration

Musician Elton John will not, despite the rumors, perform when President-elect Trump is sworn into office on Jan. 20.

“Elton will not be performing at Trump’s inauguration,” a representative for the “Tiny Dancer” singer told Entertainment Weekly.

John was a vocal Hillary Clinton supporter throughout the 2016 presidential cycle, even performing at a Clinton fundraiser in March.

Trump also routinely played John’s music at his rallies throughout the campaign.

Rumors have swirled over the last 24 hours about John’s involvement in the inauguration thanks to a BBC interview with the vice chair of the presidential inaugural committee.

In the interview, Anthony Scaramucci said that John would be performing at the inauguration as proof that Trump cares deeply about the LGBT community.

“This will be the first American president in U.S. history that enters the White House with a pro-gay rights stance,” Scaramucci said.
