MCALLEN, Texas — Rep. Henry Cuellar‘s social media account quietly deleted a string of attacks waged at Republican challenger Cassy Garcia and her campaign team after she conceded to the 10-term congressman.
Garcia conceded to Cuellar (D-TX) Tuesday evening. In a tweet before midnight, Garcia thanked her supporters and said, “Unfortunately, we came up short tonight.”
“I congratulate @CuellarCampaign on his win,” Garcia added.
I want to thank my family, my team, and everyone who believed in me.
I gave it my all, but unfortunately, we came up short tonight. I congratulate @CuellarCampaign on his win.

But Cuellar did not reciprocate the gesture and instead took a victory lap, making fun of Garcia and telling her to learn Spanish and to audition for a Netflix show on drug cartels.

Whoa, Henry Cuellar just deleted this post-victory attack tweet on Cassy Garcia. In the since-deleted tweet, Cuellar’s account wrote that Garcia would “have plenty of free time to audition for Narcos in the near future.”
“It may require you learning Spanish. Rosetta Stone is on standby!” Cuellar’s post continued.
Cuellar also posted a GIF dubbing Macarena Martinez, a Republican National Committee staff member who helped Garcia’s campaign, a “loser.”

Cuellar’s campaign did not respond to a request for comment about why he deleted the tweets.
The representative’s account posted a new statement later on Wednesday morning.
“I would like to congratulate Cassy Garcia on a hard-fought race. Cassy ran a strong campaign and I wish her the best,” Cuellar wrote.
