President Trump on Monday criticized director Spike Lee for his “racist” Oscar acceptance speech Sunday night.
“Be nice if Spike Lee could read his notes, or better yet not have to use notes at all, when doing his racist hit on your President, who has done more for African Americans (Criminal Justice Reform, Lowest Unemployment numbers in History, Tax Cuts, etc.) than almost any other Pres!” Trump tweeted Monday morning.

Lee won the first Oscar of his career for best adapted screenplay for the movie “Blackkklansman.” He used his speech to call on people to be “on the right side of history” in 2020.
“The 2020 presidential election is around the corner. Let’s all mobilize. Let’s all be in the right side of history. Make the moral choice between love versus hate,” Lee said Sunday night.
The film “Blackkklansman” included footage of Trump following a white supremacist rally clashing with counterprotesters in Charlottesville, Va., in 2017. One woman lost her life when a car was driven into a group of counterprotesters.
Following those events, Trump said there were people to blame on all sides, which grew sharp criticism from civil rights activists.
“Green Book” beat out ”Blackkklansman” for best picture, and Lee was visibly upset.
When the winner was announced, Lee walked to the back of the Dolby Theatre and got into a conversation with Jordan Peele, another black director. When Lee returned to his seat, he turned his back to the stage during the acceptance speech.
