Louie Gohmert says he will take hydroxychloroquine after testing positive for coronavirus

Rep. Louie Gohmert revealed he will begin taking hydroxychloroquine after testing positive for the coronavirus.

“My doctor and I are all in,” Gohmert said Wednesday on Fox News’s Hannity, hours after his test results came back. “I got a text just before I came on from a dear friend doctor that just found out he had it. And he started taking the regimen too. Zinc and hydroxychloroquine, and that will start just in a day or two.”

Gohmert has been seen not wearing a mask while roaming the halls of Congress. After testing positive, the Texas Republican partially blamed wearing a mask for contracting the virus, saying he could have come in contact from germs in his mask.

Hydroxychloroquine has not been proven to prevent contracting the coronavirus, but a recent study showed it helped prevent death in some patients who were taking it.

President Trump revealed earlier this year he underwent a two-week trial of the drug, adding he felt “perfect” after the regimen.
