WATCH: 145 mph high-speed chase rips through Georgia roads

A Georgia man was arrested on at least nine charges Saturday after a traffic stop turned into a high-speed chase.

A Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office deputy was attempting to pull over a swerving Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat around 4:00 a.m. when the Hellcat’s driver shot away as the officer approached.

The deputy ran back to his car, and a high-speed chase ensued, according to footage of the incident posted to social media.

“The deputy pursued the car as it reached speeds of nearly 145 mph,” the sheriff’s office said.

Another deputy joined the chase and can be seen laying down stop strips.

The Hellcat blew over them.

Eventually, the driver was pulled over and “taken into custody without further incident.”

The speed racer was identified as 23-year-old Lamont Rashid of Atlanta.

A firearm was recovered from the vehicle, police noted.
