Public blames drug dealers over Mexico and China for fentanyl problem


Nearly three-quarters of people blame illegal drug dealers for the fentanyl crisis.

A YouGov poll found that 74% of respondents blamed the drug dealers who sell fentanyl “a lot.” Fewer, 43%, blamed Mexico and China. Forty percent blamed pharmaceutical companies, and 38% blamed the U.S. government.

Others, 36%, placed the blame on those addicted.

Another majority, 57%, found the crisis to be a “very serious” problem, while another 45% said they know someone with an opioid addiction. Only 35% of respondents approved of President Joe Biden’s handling of the fentanyl crisis, while 44% disapproved and 73% agreed the government could be doing more.

There were only 2 pounds of fentanyl seized in all of 2013 compared to over 10,000 pounds seized last year alone along the ports of entry, per the Washington Examiner’s Anna Giaritelli.
