A wealthy bundler for Joe Biden’s presidential campaign told a group of donors in Manhattan that the rest of the 2020 field is too risky of a bet if Democrats wish to unseat President Trump.
“This isn’t a time to take a risk,” real estate developer Jack Rosen said to a group of supporters at the home of investor David Solomon on Thursday night, before adding that “this isn’t the time to experiment.”
Biden then took over from Rosen and told the audience that this election is “something very different,” before warning that the country “can’t handle eight years of [Trump’s] erratic behavior.”
The former vice president then continued giving his standard pitch to donors, citing Trump’s comments in the wake of the 2017 riots in Charlottesville, Virginia.
“No sitting president has ever, ever, ever said something like that,” Biden said.
Since Biden launched his third presidential bid in April, electability has been one of his main pitches to Democratic primary voters.
“The stakes are higher, the threat more serious. We have to beat Donald Trump. And all the polls agree Joe Biden is the best Democrat to do the job,” Biden’s first television spot in Iowa, which debuted in August, said.
