Comedian Chelsea Handler was slammed on Twitter this week for claiming President Trump only pardoned white people.
Trump announced Tuesday he was granting clemency to 11 people who served time, including former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and financier Michael Milken.
Handler took issue with the announcement, tweeting, “While our president exonerates criminals and releases them from jail, notice what color they all are.”

Twitter users immediately blasted Handler for insinuating that all of those pardoned were white.
Angela Stanton-King, who was exonerated for her role in a stolen vehicle ring in 2007, called out Handler with a simple tweet reading, “I’m BLACK.”

Another Twitter user pointed out that four of the people who received commutations or pardons were minorities.
Chelsea,
This is @theangiestanton, Tynice Hall & Crystal Munoz. All were granted commuted sentences or a full pardon. He did 11 commutations or pardons today. Out of 11, 7 looked white (63%). Whites (including white hispanics) account for 77% of the population. You’re ignorant. pic.twitter.com/HRPlpma0cV

Handler even responded to one Twitter user who said she would probably delete the tweet “when somebody tells her about Tynice Hall, Judith Negron, Crystal Munoz, Angela Stanton-King.”
First of all, that was Jared kushner prison reform and it was inspired by his father. The black people who were released from prison were never criminals to begin with. They had low level drug possessions. Trump just released real criminals and they are all white

Handler fired back: “The black people who were released from prison were never criminals to begin with. They had low level drug possessions. Trump just released real criminals and they are all white.”

Stanton-King has been especially vocal about her release, lauding the president for the move.
