Donald Trump said Monday that not being charged for mishandling classified material is probably Hillary Clinton’s top accomplishment while in government.
“The fact that she got away with all of this could be her single most impressive accomplishment,” Trump quipped, drawing roars of laughter from an audience in Virginia Beach, Va.
The presumptive Republican presidential nominee drew criticism from Republicans last week after discussing Saddam Hussein and his Twitter habits during separate campaign rallies, instead of the FBI’s decision not to recommend criminal charges against Clinton despite her “extremely careless” handling of classified information as secretary of state.
But on Monday, Trump tore into his Democratic opponent during a speech intended to focus on veterans affairs.
“If elected, Hillary Clinton would become the first president of the U.S. who wouldn’t be able to pass a background check,” he told the crowd.
Minutes earlier, Trump asserted that “wherever Hillary Clinton goes, corruption and scandal follows.”
“Just look at her life,” he told the audience.
