Fox News reported on the allegations that White House senior adviser Stephen Miller promoted white nationalist ideas for the first time, nearly a week after they became public.
The report, published last Tuesday by the Southern Poverty Law Center, revealed that he promoted white nationalist literature and immigration stories while he was communicating with former Breitbart News reporter Katie McHugh. McHugh, who started at the site at 23, was introduced to Miller by her editors, and there was an apparent understanding that Miller would have influence over her reporting.
Miller also suggested McHugh, who has previously denounced her white nationalist ties and who was behind the email dump, look at online publication American Renaissance and sent her a link to VDare, which are both commonly viewed as white nationalist sites.
Fox News reported on the SPLC’s report about Miller since its publication on The Next Revolution with Steve Hilton. Comparatively, CNN has only mentioned the report during two shows, New Day Weekend with Victor Blackwell and Christi Paul and on Monday during New Day with Alisyn Camerota and John Berman, while MSNBC has referred to Miller by name over a hundred times and has discussed the story on 14 different shows.
Hilton defended the president’s stance on immigration. However, he also called the references Miller made “revolting.”
Fox News did also have one article on their website about the report; however, it was focused on the response from Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The story, titled, “AOC slams WH adviser Stephen Miller as ‘white nationalist’ after the recent report, calls for his resignation,” focused on the calls for his resignation.
Fox News did not respond to a request for comment.
