LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Democratic Sen. Mark Pryor wants his Republican rival in next year’s election to ask that the House work next week on a farm bill.
Pryor, the only Democrat in Arkansas’ congressional delegation, is seeking a third term. Freshman Rep. Tom Cotton is challenging him.
Pryor said Tuesday that Cotton’s Republican colleagues back a new farm bill and he says Cotton should too. Pryor says the lack of a farm bill is hurting Arkansans and that milk prices could soon jump sharply.
The House is scheduled to adjourn Friday so members can go home for the holidays. The Senate plans to work next week.
Cotton spokesman David Ray said Pryor should work to change the federal health care law.
