Did Gary Johnson just have another Aleppo moment?

Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson struck out for a third time Wednesday when asked the name of a foreign leader.

During an interview with the New York Times, the former New Mexico governor was asked if he knew the name of North Korea’s leader.

“I do,” Johnson responded. “You want me to name?” the person, he asked, before declining to state the name of Kim Jong-Un.

Johnson’s first memory lapse happened Sept. 8 in a televised interview, when he failed to identify Aleppo, a Syrian city under siege by the Islamic State. Three weeks later, Johnson froze in a televised town hall when he was asked to name a foreign leader he admired. Running mate Bill Weld jumped in and said “Fox,” referring to the former Mexican president Vicente Fox.

Johnson argued Wednesday that Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton has been judged based on her knowledge rather than her foreign policy. Johnson supports a non-interventionist strategy and has been critical of continued U.S. involvement in the Middle East.
