Clerk fatally shot in Silver Spring 7-Eleven

A path of destruction was ripped down a Silver Spring street Tuesday afternoon when a man burst into a convenience store, fatally shot a clerk, and then possibly met another man a block away where the two stole a Comcast van at gunpoint.

As of Tuesday evening, the two men were on the run from police in two counties after ditching the van in Prince George’s County, Montgomery County police said.

The shooting on 600 University Blvd. East closed the road for hours as police searched the area for evidence.

Montgomery  police received the call for the shooting around 4:10 p.m., and less than five minutes later they were called again for the carjacking of the Comcast van on the 700 block of University Boulevard East near a 7-Eleven. The van was later found on 12th Avenue and Ruatan Street in Langley Park.

A spokeswoman for Montgomery police said they believe the incidents are connected, and she had no description of the suspects. Police will identify the slain store clerk once family has been notified. It is believed he was the only person working there at the time.
