A man has been charged after injuring three people in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 95.
Segrio A. Alvarenga-Vasquez, 34, of Fredericksburg, was driving south in the northbound lanes near Quantico when he struck a car that was driving north, according to Virginia State Police.
Alvarenga-Vasquez fled from the scene on foot and was found walking on I-95 near the exit for Route 234, near Dumfries, police said.
The driver of the struck car, 48-year-old Alison Conway, and two passengers — her daugter, 19-year-old Amanda Conway, and mother, 78-year-old Geraldine Orrell — were all hospitalized after the crash, which happened at about 9:45 p.m. Saturday.
Police said Tuesday that Alvarenga-Vasquez was charged with felony hit-and-run, being drunk in public, reckless driving, failing to have a valid driver’s license, failing to have insurance and failing to wear a seatbelt.
